The school of nursing recently expanded the NCIN mentoring program so that all accelerated second bachelor’s degree program students and all students in the traditional undergraduate nursing program benefit from it, in addition to the NCIN scholars. Senior NCIN scholars have helped coordinate the mentoring program, planning activities and matching mentors and mentees. As a result, students report more beneficial and more frequent contact with their mentors, which many say has helped them navigate entry into the nursing program. Students also took advantage of the university’s Center for Multicultural Advancement and Student Success, which offers academic support, student development, and cultural enrichment.
